Opening with the distant wail of K's film noir sax line and the slow predatory pulse of shadowy back alley bayou blues, K Darling's My Vampire Kiss (Emergency) evokes an uneasy sense of rhythmic voodoo and uses D Finocarro's eerie repetitive guitar harmonics to indicate this is no ordinary forlorn lover's tune.

This is haunting, outside-the-box blues rock that could easily be the soundtrack to one of Ann Rice's New Orleans-based vampire chronicles. The cat n' mouse interplay between K's seductive voice-overs and D's incendiary lead guitar work entices, excites and distracts just long enough to reveal the unanticipated Vampire Kiss has already occurred. Be warned:-)

Words & Music by D Finocarro. Vampire narrative written by Jimmi Hood. Published by Kadar Music (BMI). Lead Vocal - K Darling. Voiceovers & backup vocals - K Darling. Six & twelve-string guitars - D Finocarro. Saxaphone - K Darling. Hammond B3 organ - Howie Kantor. Bass guitar - David Goetz. Drums - Brian Godsell.

This ABBA-like story song backed by power chords (reminiscent of The Who) provides the perfect vehicle for K Darling's joyous vocal that brings the song character to life. Speaking of song characters, this record is iust begging for a tiktok 'Diamond Dancer' dance challenge in the near future to identify the World's Best 'Diamond Dancer'.

Described by an impressed fan as the sound of K's vocal surfing down the face of a huge sonic wave thundering toward the beach, Fire In My Heart was first performed by the rock duo K Darling in 1983 in front of a packed house when they opened for the Ramones (of punk rock fame) at Reds, a large Eighties dance club in Nassau County, Long island, NY.

A regional dance club hit, K Darling's Fire In My Heart drew stylistic influence from David Bowie and Roxy Music and, along with records by Stevie Nicks, Eurythmics, and Roxette, helped define the Dance-Rock genre of the early Eighties with its fusion of impassioned vocals, symphonic synthesizers, soaring rock guitars and deep no-nonsense bass.
